Mommy Drill Sargent & Spring Cleaning Update #1

Well, hubby is handling my new Drill Sargent ways much better than I thought he would! Apparently, even though he likes to play tough guy, he really doesn’t want to be in charge of anything. He did get upset when I was tossing boxes out of my office/craft room and cursing him out, but only because he forgot that I had asked him to stop doing that months ago. I “gently” reminded him – although there may have been some more cursing involved. I sometimes wonder what is going on in that head of his…

Anyway – here are before and after shots of my office…there’s still a long way to go, but at least you can enter the room and actually see our circa 1975 red-orange shag rug!

Before

Phase #1 - Got rid of all the boxes!

If you look very closely under the window on the right, you can see the stack of flooring that’s going to replace the horrible shag rug in here. We got the flooring free when some rich person decided they didn’t like the perfectly good laminate flooring they had and had it ripped up – not only will it look nicer, but it will be way easier to keep clean in a crafting room than the awful rug! You will also notice the stack of colorful boxes to the right of the same window – those are Barbie dolls! Keep your eyes on future updates to this post as I’ll have links to my eBay listings of these dolls as I put them up for sale.

The only thing I’m missing for getting this crafting room usable is shelving…maybe I’ll buy some lumber and make some just the way I want…

Water and Wood definitely don’t mix

Connor had just gotten through thoroughly enjoying an extra-long bath this morning – Mamma actually had her stuff together and on time today, lol – when Mamma made him get out and come downstairs to get dressed/fed/teeth brushed and ready for school.

Apparently Mamma didn’t dry his feet quite enough, because this was the result of him turning the corner to the right onto the wood floor Daddy recently put in instead of turning left onto carpet:

Five words – Thank God For Skin Glue!

Thankfully, I learned early on not to lose it when Connor gets sick/hurt, so by the time we left the house (about ten minutes after he fell – not a single one of the three of us was completely dressed) he wasn’t even crying anymore, and I had put a sterile gauze pad on his wound to hold it closed as well as I could.

When we got to the ER, he was his usual charming and cute self, telling everyone that he had a “crack” in his chin, lol. We left the house and got back home in less than an hour and a half, and didn’t wait even five minutes. Thank you ER staff at Jordan Hospital!

What a way to spend a Friday morning on a Friday the 13th! I think I’m becoming superstitious now…
