The Ever-Elusive Leprechaun

With St. Patrick’s Day coming next Saturday, Connor has been assigned a fun homework assignment that is due next Thursday. He has to build a leprechaun trap!

Everyone knows that if you catch a leprechaun, he has to relinquish his pot of gold. What may not be commonly known is that they are cobblers by trade, can’t resist rainbows (due to the pot of gold at the end of them) and shiny or sparkly objects, and love to break rules. I’ve been doing some research, and there are tons of ideas available to draw from, and here are some of my favorites…

From Disney Family Fun

The Leprechaun Hat Pit

The Rainbow Cage-Drop

The Tricky Trapdoor

From DotComWomen

The Popsicle-stick Trap

And finally, from Not Martha

The Leprechaun Cake Trap

I seriously hope Connor picks one of these beauties for his inspiration.

Which one is your favorite? I think mine is the Hat Trap, but that Cake Trap is looking awfully yummy…

I’ll post pictures of our creation when it’s done and let you know if we strike it rich! :-)

Happy New Year!

Wow! I can’t believe it’s 2012 already! I feel like I fell asleep after Kyle was born in February, and when I woke up almost an entire year had passed…where the heck does all the time go?

Everyone here at home is back to their regular schedules again today – Connor to Kindergarten, Hubby to work, and me back to my classes and internet and blogging. Hopefully we’ll all kick the colds we’ve been dealing with since before Christmas this week too.

Here are my goals for this year…

  • Quit smoking
  • Redesign my blog
  • Blog more regularly
  • Stick to a regular daily schedule more
  • Be happy with who I am
  • Stop “people pleasing” at the expense of my own happiness
  • Finally get our bathroom finished

I know it’s an odd list, but I’m trying to keep it fairly simple…except for the quitting smoking, these are all goals I’m pretty sure I can manage. The quitting smoking may require that I be locked in a closet in a straight-jacket for a few weeks.

I’d love to hear about your goals for the new year!
