Baby Bump

Okay – the OB/GYN appointment went great! My new doc is an older gentleman, and has a wonderful bedside manner and sense of humor. My exam was uneventful – both me and the baby are looking great. When he asked if I had any questions, the only thing that came to mind was “yes – how do you prepare a four year old for another kid?” He thought that hilariously funny, and suggested I check out sibling classes at the hospital.

His office had literally just brought ultrasound services into the office, so I was able to get one on the 7th immediately after my examination – which was wonderful…it’s been killing me not knowing how far along I was, and especially since I missed the first half of my pregnancy with Connor. As of today, I am ten weeks, five days pregnant! Lee, my friendsĀ and I are all convinced it’s a girl, and when my sister Vicky (who is a nurse) explained that you are virtually guaranteed a girl if the heart rate is over 150, I nearly squealed with glee – the baby’s heart rate is 164. Fingers crossed!

I was finally able to talk to Lee about scheduling his heart valve surgery without him getting angry! I made an appointment for him on the 23rd to speak to his heart doctor about getting the surgery scheduled. It would be far easier to take care of him during his recovery if I am pregnant with a four year old than it would be with a four year old and an infant, so the sooner the better. We’ve also begun planning for the baby’s room and FINALLY getting our house in order. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Our bathroom is still in tatters – it seems like no matter how much sleep I get, I’m constantly exhausted, and the office – which will soon be the baby’s room – is a DISASTER. It’s been a dumping ground since the day we moved in…so we’ve got our work cut out for us. But, for the first time in I don’t know how long, we’re able to talk about getting rid of some of the crap we’ve accumulated without getting into a huge fight. I’m sure there’s one coming – especially once I start to sell off toys that are just collecting dust, but I’ll deal with that when it comes. The first awfulness I get to deal with is telling my mother. I’ll let you know what happens.
