Thanksgiving, Jars & Bags #NaBloPoMo

Yes, I missed posting a bunch of days. I will make up for it – I promise!

Thanksgiving was a total hit, thanks to me pulling yet another holiday all-nighter. It was totally worth it though – the food was great, even though the turkey was done over 2 hours early (thanks Stop & Shop for not stocking fresh Butterball turkeys and FORCING me to use one of yours so that nothing else was even prepped for cooking when your turkey was done!). It didn’t get all dried out like I was afraid it would.

I was so tired from staying up to clean the house – don’t judge…if I don’t wait until the absolute last minute, Kyle will just trash it again and I wanted the house to at least resemble something humans live in – that I KNOW I had to have said something either totally non-understandable or hilarious at one point. I remember my mother saying something to the effect of “I can’t believe the turkey is ready 2 hours early and she’s cool as a cucumber”. (Little did she know I didn’t have enough energy to freak-the-hell out!) And I do remember lying in bed with hubs, both of us fully clothed at around 8pm, with the boys playing on the floor nearby, and us calmly chatting away and neither of us making any sense at all. I think it’s the closest I’ve ever been to stoned without having touched anything alcoholic or illegal. I can imagine myself stumbling around in a stupor – thank goodness my sister, mother and brother-in-law kept asking what they could do to help!

To whoever decided that anyone pursuing a bachelor’s degree had to study AP Math, I want to stab you in the eye with a sharpened spoon.

As for helping the environment this week, we saved every jar and every plastic bag that went into bringing all the different foodstuffs home and they aren’t entering the trash. The jars are going to be used to hold craft supplies, and the bags are either going to be used as packing material (hubs sells lots of stuff on eBay) or they’re going back to the store to be recycled. Supplying their shoppers with a way to make sure their bags get recycled is one of the few things Stop & Shop does that I actually like.
