Mommy Drill Sargent & Spring Cleaning Update #1

Well, hubby is handling my new Drill Sargent ways much better than I thought he would! Apparently, even though he likes to play tough guy, he really doesn’t want to be in charge of anything. He did get upset when I was tossing boxes out of my office/craft room and cursing him out, but only because he forgot that I had asked him to stop doing that months ago. I “gently” reminded him – although there may have been some more cursing involved. I sometimes wonder what is going on in that head of his…

Anyway – here are before and after shots of my office…there’s still a long way to go, but at least you can enter the room and actually see our circa 1975 red-orange shag rug!

Phase #1 - Got rid of all the boxes!

If you look very closely under the window on the right, you can see the stack of flooring that’s going to replace the horrible shag rug in here. We got the flooring free when some rich person decided they didn’t like the perfectly good laminate flooring they had and had it ripped up – not only will it look nicer, but it will be way easier to keep clean in a crafting room than the awful rug! You will also notice the stack of colorful boxes to the right of the same window – those are Barbie dolls! Keep your eyes on future updates to this post as I’ll have links to my eBay listings of these dolls as I put them up for sale.

The only thing I’m missing for getting this crafting room usable is shelving…maybe I’ll buy some lumber and make some just the way I want…

Wow, I think that is worse than my office and I thought mine was bad.

I have to clean again. My problem is papers. I hate papers. I really want on of those scanners that you can just put papers through and it not only scans but also organizes all of the documents. I have to go through stacks of papers again.

Great job cleaning and the room is going to look great when you get that flooring down.

  2. Wow, girlfriend. That is a lot of cleaning. I did the same thing with my closet. I should have taken before and after photos but it was too intimidating. You did an amazing job.

Thanks! I’m actively trying to teach hubby and kidlet #1 that stuff doesn’t necessarily equal happiness…both of them have issues getting rid of stuff. The next phase in this room make-over is nailing hubby down to a day to put in the flooring! Then I can build some shelves and finally get organized. 🙂
